Buying items with lots of packaging usually yields you more trash then product. This is especially true of many mail-order items. If you order mail-order items, ask the order taker to put in a request for biodegradable packaging material. If you do end up with excess packaging materials – even the dreaded foam peanuts—don’t throw them away, reuse them.
