Wanda's Diary Entries

I was thinking about a wonderful moment that occurred a week or so ago. The day after we’d shot some promo spots for our upcoming set of season #2 programs for SIMPLE LIVING (you know, the 30 second spots that programmers add to their lineup inviting viewers to tune into an upcoming show), I dropped the blouse that I was wearing off at the dry cleaners. We have a wonderful dry cleaning establishment here in town—Hutchens Laundry & Cleaners—and its owners agreed to donate cleaning services for clothing used for the production of our series. Anyhow, I’d dropped off this blouse on a Friday morning. Aaron asked me when I needed it. I knew he was looking forward to a busy weekend, so I said, “Next week would be fine.”
Anyhow, when I got into the office ten minutes later, there was a message from our distributor saying that due to technical issues, all the promos that had been shot the day before had to be reshot that day and overnight mailed to him, in order to make his feed deadline. So suddenly we needed that blouse back. In short order, I called the cleaners to ask after the blouse, sweaty or clean. Aaron got on the phone and said, “You know, after you dropped the blouse off, I went ahead and cleaned it. I had a funny feeling that you would need it today.”
By listening to his inner voice, Aaron provided me with one of those amazing moments of grace amid a feeling of disorder. Working hard to complete our production deadlines, the last thing we wanted here at the office was to have to spend all day Friday redoing our work of Thursday. Something we thought was done and over was back front and center. What Aaron contributed was immense. It was a connection with another human being. It showed that something was working when other things had failed to do so. And it reminded me that we all need to listen to those little intuitive voices inside us that are there to guide us as we go about our days.
