Wanda's Diary Entries

With our busy production schedule these last few weeks, my ritual
morning swim often has fallen by the wayside. My ideal schedule is this:drop Henry off at school at 7:30 a.m. and drive two miles to
our Reeves Community Center to swim. If I’m on schedule, I can
be in the water before 8 and at the office (three blocks away) by
9 a.m. But lately even that one hour that virtually ensures a
good day—or makes a “middling” day better—has been hard to come
by.
Today when I pulled in to the Reeves parking lot, I was busy reading
the newspaper headlines of the day in my car (newspaper reading is
another relaxant to me) before getting out. Then I noticed my friend Judit
standing outside the passenger door waiting for me.
“Where have you been?” she asked. “I haven’t seen you in weeks.”
Our visit continued in the water, as we did leg lifts, comparing notes
about our sons and life and exercise. Judit seemed radiant today.
I realized how wonderful it is to have friends who notice when you go
slack on your rituals and do their part to get you back on baord.
The swim was refreshing and so was my visit with my wonderful
Hungarian friend.
