My Aunt Ruth came in from Springfield, Missouri to celebrate Simple Living Day with Frank, me, Sharon Avent and the entire Simple Living gang. After a weekend of fun, excitement and the busy-ness of being honored and spending time with honored guests, on Sunday afternoon, after all the celebrations were over, Aunt Ruth volunteered to babysit Henry so I could take a much-desired swim. I loved it as Aunt Ruth sat down and spoke with Henry. She told him something we all need to hear every day. She said, “Henry, to be happy, you need to keep two things in mind: 1. Don’t blame others. And 2. Be appreciative of all the things that others do for you and what you already have. You know, if we could all follow Aunt Ruth’s commonsensical wisdom, we’d have it made!
