Wanda's Diary Entries

Today Frank and I made a decision to take a spring break vacation trip with our son Henry and go out to the Midwest to visit two of our 86-year-old aunts: my Aunt Ruth Kelley in Springfield, MO and his aunt Elizabeth Lindsey in Tulsa, OK. We have been wanting to take this trip for some time and see them both, but we were a bit hesitant because of the possibility of Frank needing to be at the orchard to spray his cherry crop. In April of a season, watching and tending to the cherries is a day to day proposition. We’re now on pins and needles as to whether the cherries will make it through this season. We’re saying our prayers, crossing our fingers and doing a whole lot of hoping. We haven’t lost a crop completely since 1990, so this may be the year. Then again, we’ve had many close calls and anxious nights and the cherries have come through for us in the end. So that’s our hope.
About the trip, we decided to take the plunge and book the trip while the air fares are still cheap. When it comes to 86-year-old aunts, you need to not wait around. So Missouri and Oklahoma, here we come!
