At Sunday School class today, my teacher Pat Woltz taught our class about the “guardian angels” all around us. She told us a remarkable story about how when her husband was a textile company owner here in Mount Airy that they used to fly on a two-seater plane to business meetings around the region: Atlanta, New York, Washington, Richmond. One day, when there were thunderstorms all over Altanta—seven to be exact—their plane lost contact with the control tower. John Woltz made the decision to land at a small regional airport without first contacting control. (He had no choice.) So they flew in. And not until they approached another aircraft did they realize they’d missed a plane taking off by a few feet. A guardian angel, Pat is convinced, was with them. The next week, her husband sold the plane. But Pat has never stopped believing in angels and their hidden power in our lives.
