Kathy Treanor treated us a week ago today by showing up at our Simple Living seminar at the Kathleen Clay Bryan Edwards Library in Greensboro and presenting us with a Christmas present. It is a book—hot off the press—called Forever These Lands: Piedmont Land Conservancy’s Protected Places. What a beautiful and luscious book it is, featuring photographs by Virginia Weiler and text by Kathy Treanor. The book features family farms and the people who own them, love them and are preserving them for future generations. It showcases lush open spaces, lovely wildflowers, trees, mountains, birds and animals here in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina.
It is a gift I would buy for anyone wanting a greater connection with nature here in Northwest North Carolina, and I would seek out similar works in other parts of the nation. All of us benefit from preserving land, nature and natural beauty. No one stands to lose.
