Wanda's Diary Entries
December 2, 2005
Last night, Frank, Henry and I arranged our evening around watching the ABC special program about the life of Pope John Paul II. I guess you would call it a “biopic.” While the program moved rapidly over a number of serious subjects and scenes—a friend this morning commented he’d never seen World War II covered so quickly—there was a quality to the program and the actor that was effective. The photography was luscious, and the set decoration and costuming authentic. Henry had said he no interest in watching the program initially, but like the rest of us, he was drawn in by the story of this brilliant, charismatic and courageous man. A strong theme of the program was the Pope’s love for his country, Poland. That is a theme that resonates strongly with all of us.
