Wanda's Diary Entries
December 1, 2005
Henry’s wise teacher, Mrs. Jamie Smith, has come up with another great idea that brings families together. Each holiday season, she sends home a piece of construction paper on which is traced a pumpkin, turkey or Christmas tree. This is accompanied by instructions to decorate the item “as a family.” So last night, Henry, Frank and I gathered round the dining room table and decorated his Christmas tree. Henry glued buttons to the tree to make a face; I came up with the idea of tissue eyebrows; I suggested a Frank a hat. Altogether it was a darling family enterprise, with Henry the decision-maker, clearly in the drivers’ seat. We should not wait for the teacher to make such assignments. I’m vowing for us to do this on our own!
