Katherine Stern Weaver
President, Residence Development Company, Greensboro, NC

Katherine serves as a trustee on several foundations, including the William A. Stern Foundation, the UNC-G Weatherspoon Arts Foundation and the Weaver Foundation. Additionally, she is on the Board of Directors for the Center for Community Self-Help, a lending institution and non-profit dedicated to creating ownership and economic opportunities for minorities, women, rural residents and low-wealth families. She has worked with the Center for Education, Imagination and the Natural World as well as numerous other non profit organizations.
She earned her BA in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and her MBA from Wake Forest University.
Katherine Weaver was first introduced to such simple living ideas as composting, recycling and paperless kitchens while earning her bachelor’s degree in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz during the 1980s. Upon returning to North Carolina, she earned her MBA from Wake Forest University. As president of Residence Development Company, Katherine is involved in real estate development, management and investing in Greensboro, NC. She is a co-owner of the Proximity Hotel, the first “green” hotel in the United States.
