Ann L. Vaughn, Ed.D-Executive Director, Gilmer-Smith Foundation, Mount Airy, NC
Born in Richmond, Virginia but now calling Mount Airy, North Carolina home, Ann Vaughn is a woman of multiple talents. She received her B.A. in psychology at Mary Baldwin College and earned her M.Ed. and Ed.D from the University of Virginia.
Vaughn has served on boards for numerous local and national causes including the Surry Arts Council, Reeves Community Center, United Way Restoration Foundation, Boy Scouts, and the Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce (VP of Travel and Tourism 2001-2003). Vaughn was awarded the Mount Airy Citizen of the Year award in 1992 and the Travel and Tourism Award of Excellence in 2003. Vaughn has been the executive director of the Gilmer-Smith Foundation since 1995 where she manages the Dr. Robert Smith House & Memorial Park and the Historic Gertrude Smith House.
